That’s the line that trans activists give RadFems, CG feminists, and just sane people in general when we express concern with the transing of America’s children. But here’s the thing, Janet, it DOES affect me.

Before we moved across the pond (you’ll forgive me for not exposing our address as the left has a habit of doxxing people it does not approve of) my daughter and I lived in a mid-sized Southern California exurb. Before I removed her from public school school, we got a front row seat when the trans circus brought its supporters to town: a child came out as trans (MtF) in her middle school in 2025.

The big issue came to the locker room logistics, because of course, and thanks to California Education Code 221.5 / AB 1266 which legally validates gender ideology in California public schools, it was automatically assumed that it was this boy’s inherent legal right to change in the girls’ locker room. Trans child wanted to change in the girls’ locker room, and the genie of gender ideology granted his wish.

As a result, there was public uproar. First, the district clumsily floated the idea of having anyone who didn’t want to change alongside trans child fill out a “mental health accommodation form” to be excluded from changing with him. I sent the email below to her principal to verify this was actually happening, and spoke with him on the phone the same day:

After being told that there was “no official policy” to deal with this type of situation by the principal, and then asking several times for his response in writing (which he seemed unwilling to give); this was his response:

Yes, that’s right. The onus for the entire situation fell squarely on the minor girls who were forced to deal with a male body in their female spaces. They had to segregate themselves away from their sex-designated spaces to accommodate a boy who said he was a girl. The idiotic accommodation form, which remains part of the student’s permanent record, was tabled, and a vote was postponed, in a late August 2025 TVUSD school board meeting.

Mind you, this is a district in which only 39% of middle school students tested at grade level for math and just 61% tested at grade level for reading proficiency according to the most recent stats, and the high school graduation rate is a paltry 62%. So, you know, the kids can’t read and aren’t prepared for jobs once they leave the educational pipeline, but at least they know their teacher’s pronouns.

Because of this policy and ongoing issues within the district, protests against the mental health accommodation form policy were held on the corners of the property adjacent to the school, including a student walk out. This limited their already precious educational time, but I guess its more important to accommodate confused boys and pretend like that 39% math proficiency doesn’t exist. I didn’t even send my daughter to school at all that day. Leftist ghouls like this TVUSD teacher later harassed parents and a school board member at another school site over the bathroom policy on a different occasion. These are the people who are in charge of teaching our children, and they cannot even manage to control themselves at their own workplace. As far as I know, that teacher is still employed by TVUSD.

So, getting back to how gender ideology affects me personally. My daughter felt extremely uncomfortable changing in school in general, as it was her first year and the girls’ bodies are all changing in new ways now, and even more so when there was talk of a male body being involved in her spaces. Her friends were also uncomfortable, and some stated that they were pressured to change with him.

Let me be clear- my daughter has a RIGHT to a public education free of harassment, manipulation, and ideological influence in California, as does every single child living there. Her rights were not honored by TVUSD. Instead, they were trampled on by political ideologues who care more about scoring points for virtue signaling than protecting young girls. This is how the policies of gender ideology affect me, my family, and many other women and girls personally. We have a right to our own safe spaces, we have the right to say no to male bodies in our spaces, and we have the right to advocate for the safety and comfort of our daughters, who do not take pills and get surgeries to become anything other than what they were born as- female. We have the right to not be treated as human shields by men and boys who are trying to get away from…men and boys. We have the right to say no for any reason. Women said no. End of discussion.
